Types of Dependent Sponsorship Options
This is for bringing dependents to Canada permanently under Family Class immigration.
- Spouse or common-law partner
- Dependent children (biological or adopted)
- Parents and grandparents (under the Parent/Grandparent Program)
- In limited cases: orphaned siblings, nieces/nephews, grandchildren under 18 (unmarried)

2. Dependent Visa for Temporary Residents (Work/Study Permit Holders)
- Spouses of international students or foreign workers in Canada may apply.
- Allows the spouse to work for any employer in Canada.
- Requires proof of the principal applicant's valid permit and relationship documents.
- Children can study in Canada at primary or secondary school levels without a separate study permit (if one parent holds a valid study/work permit).
- If children are older (post-secondary), they’ll need their own study permit.

- Passport and ID documents
- Relationship proof (marriage/birth certificate)
- Police clearance certificate
- Medical examination (for PR)
- Financial documents (for sponsors)
- Immigration forms (IMM series)

- Biometric fee: CAD $85 per person (max $170 per family)
